Trouble with Parameters that accept a Range

I have a single static parameter configured as a Date type and configured to accept a range.

I can't seem to get it to filter the data according to the dates entered?

I have a date field in the data table, and I try to link it to that, but when I try to use "between" it just lists the dates and not the parameter.

I hope this is clear, because I don't think I'm doing a good job of explaining it.

Do I create a formula that says  Is between Minimum({?Reporting Period}) and Maximum ({?Reporting Period})
