Product life cycle planning in SAP -Process

Team,

we would like to implement lifecycle management in our company..the idea is to classify items based on different stage like, development,growth, sales prices, final sales, end of life etc.This will help us to reduce number of active SKUs in our process. for the same, is there any standard program in sap or do we need to develop custom program?
