I need your views on how to better cost a re-brand product?
Re-branding Product Business Process:
Re-branding in our business is basically changing the material code and stock to another material code. in addition, more than one material code could also be re-branded to (points to) single receiving material. It is Oil & Gas Business and the nature of the re-branding is very dynamic and changes based on stock availability and some other factors.
For example:
A product has 3 different grades. Grade A, B, and C where A is the lowest grade, and C is the Highest grade. The scenario starts when the customer ordered Grade A product, but during the shipment this product is low in stock and then the plant decided to send to the customer a mix of other materials which makes different grade of the same product the customer ordered.
If we look at the new Material (the material after rebrand) is composed of two other material codes.
Requirement:
How can we cost the new material (the material after rebrand) based on the re-branded materials?
Provided the price control of the re-branded materials is "S" and we are not using the Actual costing Material Ledger.
The movement Type used for re-brand is 309
Please provide helpful ideas that you might encountered in your career.
